VSL’s

This device has been triggered. It has changed from 55 mph speed display to 35. It also has a set of “wig wag” flashers located just below the speed display panel. The “wig wags” are used to advise motorist that a recent event has occurred which necessitates a change in speed. These events can be as a result of normal congestion associated with “peak – hour” operation or as a result of work-zone activities. By varying the speed displays these highway segments can be made safer for motorists and our highway workers.
